If you need to power just one or two PoE devices, instead of a PoE-enabled Switch, you can use a PoE injector to add PoE to a single Ethernet cable. A PoE injector can be more economical if you need only a small number of PoE devices. This product has two RJ45 sockets – ‘in’ and ‘out’ – the out port takes the 10/100BaseT data connection, adding PoE (801.3af) power added onto the cable.
If you need power for just one or two devices, instead of a PoE Switch, you can use a single ‘PoE injector to add PoE to one Ethernet cable. Compared to a larger PoE switch, a PoE injector is more economonical if you need only a small number of PoE devices in a particular location (break even on cost is probably about 4 ports, though there is also a neatness factor of usin a switch). A PoE injector is mains powered and inserts PoE into the Ethernet cable.
- Both power and data can be transmitted up to 328 feet (100m) using standard CAT5e Ethernet cabling
